Technology class meeting #1
In the first class we discussed two stories and answered questions about technology and education. Some believed that students without internet access at home were not at a disadvantage while some felt like they were. What do you think? I am undecided. I feel like students who have internet access at home are at an advantage because they have an unimaginable amount of resources at their finger tips with limitless time.
On the other hand I feel like some students (depending on the age group/grade) who do not have internet at home are not at a disadvantage. Some students can use resources such as a public library and a school's computer lab to access the internet. Also teachers should also be aware of what access their students have to technology outside of the classroom. Teachers can arrange for students to use school resources or even their personal resources.
We learned about technology dealing with the achievement gap, discussed achievement testing, and the purpose of technology in a classroom.
